Ready to Build your Table?
Here at Mayr Brothers Co the selection of a table is more than the purchase of a piece of furniture. Our job is to work with you on determining the features of the table that best fits you and your lifestyle. In this we have developed a three step process that defines the character of the piece.
Step 1: Look, Fit, Feel
The first step determines the personality of the surface of the table. This includes selecting the size, materials, tone, edging, and surface of the table.
Step 2: Foundation
The second step is to select the style and finish of the base of your table.
Step 3: Personalization
The final step in the process is choosing additional features for your table such as adding a river inlay or metal banding.
If you are looking for a truly one of a kind piece, we also have an executive designer program that matches you with one of our artisans to develop a limited edition table to fit your exact needs.
Step 1: Materials & style
Materials
Mayr Brothers offers four different species of planking for you to choose from.
Black Walnut

Black Walnut is considered by many to be the finest wood in the world. It’s rich brown to purple tones make a statement when ever it is used. In fact, Walnut is seldom stained because it is naturally so beautiful.
Maple

Due to a stark and evident grain, Maple is an excellent choice for those who are looking for a lighter toned table but still want to retain the bold, unique character patterns native to the species.
Alder

Alder is known as one of the most flexible hardwoods. With bold colors and a light grain, Alder can be used with many tones and finishes to create a one of a kind statement piece for you home.
Douglas Fir

Douglas fir is one of the most well known, most widely used and hardest of the softwoods. It has a dense grain pattern and is typically naturally finished because of its high contrast grain pattern.
Size
Mayr Brothers offers custom sizes of tables to fit your space. Below are our standard sizes with recommended seat capacity. Our associates can work with you to find the offsets needed for your room.

Tone
The tone of your table is often determined by the surface material you have chosen. Walnut and Douglas Fir are usually left to their natural coloring while Maple and Alder’s coloring can be adjusted by numerous proprietary Mayr Brothers finishing techniques.

Surface
Mayr Brothers offers three unique surfaces to our tables.
Traditional

The traditional finish is a smooth finish for an elegant sophisticated look.
Authentic

The authentic finish is a semi-millborn finish that retain some of the character of the milling process for a more edgy but contemporary feel.
Distinctive

The Distinctive finish is our most rugged millborn finish that retains a majority of the natural imperfections of the milling process which are then refined for a modern industrial look.
Edge
Mayr Brothers offers two edge types to choose from.
Square Edge

A traditional 90 degree table edge. This edge can be paired with a river or lake inlay to make a unique table with more traditional features.
Semi Live Edge

A live edge partially down one or both table side. This edge allows a table to have a live edge feel but remain functional.
Step 2: Foundation
The base of the table completes the look of the table so the shape, style, and finish need to match the look and feel of your home. It is equally important that the base stays in proportional balance with the table surface so the table does not appear top or bottom heavy. Lastly and most importantly the base must be structurally strong to support the demands of the table.
Mayr Brothers manufactures all of our bases in house using locally sourced 1/8th inch thick hot rolled steel. Although more then double the cost of imported table legs, the added strength and weight adds stability and eliminates lateral motion to our tables. Our bases are then finished with a proprietary technique that provides a natural raw steel look with slight smoke tones.
Foundation Style
All Mayr Brothers tables can be matched to any of our foundation styles.

Step 3: Personalization
Personalization
Mayr Brothers has a number of optional features that can be added to your table to add a unique personality to your piece. All features can be added to any table regardless of material or size choices.
River/Lake
A tinted epoxy, inlaid into a live edge that runs down the length of the table (River) or is enclosed in the center of the table (Lake). The inlay creates a contemporary feel to the table surface. These are commonly used with the Traditional surface.
Steel Inserts
Steel Inserts are 1 inch smoked medal rods that are inlayed into the table top prior to finishing to add character to the final product. These are commonly used with the Distinctive surface.
Metal Banding
Metal Bands are placed in or around table to make an industrial feel to the table. These are commonly used with the Distinctive surface.
Cord Management
Commonly used in our larger tables when converted to conference tables to add power plugs and AV adaptors.
